Happy Monday!

Christmas Eve is what we celebrate at home since I am Austrian. It is a festive celebration with dinner, Christmas Carols, Presents and we light real candles on the tree – today I also know my mom kept a water bucket under the table when my sister and I were little – just in case – lol 😉

Blue Velvet

Fall is around the corner and I already have my first obsession for the new season…. Velvet… especially Navy Blue Velvet! I love how rich and smooth it looks – this season is all about it, even Shoes and Handbags are coming in all shades of Velvet.

Interesting enough that Velvet was one of my inspirations for my own dress designs earlier this year – I brought out a dark Green Velvet gown for Emerald Ball in May and a Red Velvet gown with an open back for Millennium Dance Championships in June. I guess my gut feeling was right …. Velvet it is!

Emerald Green Velvet Evening Gown by Babette Brown

I am baaaaaack! Last week I have been invited to be an adjudicator at the prestigious Emerald Ball in Los Angeles, one of the largest Ballroom Dance events in the USA. I had a fabulous time, barely saw daylight because I spent most of the time in the Ballroom and came home happy and inspired.

As you know, I love to design and make dresses, especially evening gowns – since it was for Emerald Ball I chose green of course. On Friday evening I wore the Velvet gown, a beautiful, simple cut that is molded to the body with a little trail in the back. I loved the simplicity of it.

On Saturday evening I wore my two piece dress. I loved the cut, a little less classical and encrusted in pink stones and pink crystal pearls – It was great to wear and I loved the glamour of it.
