NYFW – The Show

The actual show I was invited to see was the¬†Christian Siriano’s Spring Summer 2018 collection. The show was held at the Pier 59 Studios – and the first ones at the venue were of course the photographers and press to get the best spot for their pictures. Slowly but surely the who is who in fashion arrived, from fashion editors, celebrity stylists, buyers, bloggers etc… and of course – celebrities. You actually barely see them because the minute they arrive they are covered by Cameras and Photographers.

One of the most interesting things to me was the “Vision Board” – a place backstage where all the inspirations, colors, visions and fabrics for the collection are displayed. Just by looking at it you can get a feeling and a sense of what you are about to see. And when the actual show starts you immediately understand where the designer is coming from and what his idea behind it has been. For me this is where fashion becomes an art form.

The show was amazing and here are my personal picks and favorites for you. For the full coverage of the  collection you can visit Vogue and see all the outfits.

All in all it was an amazing experience and very inspiring on so many levels. The whole process of a fashion show was not unfamiliar to me because of my time of being a model in the 90ies. Nowadays I am most fascinated by the creativity, artistry and professionalism of the whole industry itself and all it’s aspects.

Blue Velvet

Fall is around the corner and I already have my first obsession for the new season…. Velvet… especially Navy Blue Velvet! I love how rich and smooth it looks – this season is all about it, even Shoes and Handbags are coming in all shades of Velvet.

Interesting enough that Velvet was one of my inspirations for my own dress designs earlier this year – I brought out a dark Green Velvet gown for Emerald Ball in May and a Red Velvet gown with an open back for Millennium Dance Championships in June. I guess my gut feeling was right …. Velvet it is!

What do you think? Do you love it as well?

Thank you so much for stopping by, it means a lot to me.

These pictures are from last Friday evening – I must say I absolutely LOVED the Rose Gold color of the dress. It is a simple, sleek cut with a trail in the back and the dress is full of sequence so it sparkles all over. Definitely another glamorous look and one of my favorites!

Since I am obsessed with Rose Gold I made a look book for you to enjoy and shop. I hope you like it!
