NYFW – The Show

The actual show I was invited to see was the Christian Siriano’s Spring Summer 2018 collection. The show was held at the Pier 59 Studios – and the first ones at the venue were of course the photographers and press to get the best spot for their pictures. Slowly but surely the who is who in fashion arrived, from fashion editors, celebrity stylists, buyers, bloggers etc… and of course – celebrities. You actually barely see them because the minute they arrive they are covered by Cameras and Photographers.

One of the most interesting things to me was the “Vision Board” – a place backstage where all the inspirations, colors, visions and fabrics for the collection are displayed. Just by looking at it you can get a feeling and a sense of what you are about to see. And when the actual show starts you immediately understand where the designer is coming from and what his idea behind it has been. For me this is where fashion becomes an art form.

The show was amazing and here are my personal picks and favorites for you. For the full coverage of the  collection you can visit Vogue and see all the outfits.

All in all it was an amazing experience and very inspiring on so many levels. The whole process of a fashion show was not unfamiliar to me because of my time of being a model in the 90ies. Nowadays I am most fascinated by the creativity, artistry and professionalism of the whole industry itself and all it’s aspects.

Backstage at NYFW

Happy Friday!

Here are some more New York Fashion Week insights for you, today I would like to invite you to come backstage with me. I made some snapshots to capture the atmosphere. It is a busy and very colorful and buzzing place – but if you pay close attention, you see that there are the top professionals of their trade at work. This is where the magic happens. Hair Stylists and Make Up artists have to move quickly and precisely to create the looks requested by the designer.

The Canadian Top Model Coco Rocha is getting  Runway ready for the show.

The show was sponsored by E.L.F. Cosmetics

The amazing International team of Sebastian Professionals at work.

The hair was beautifully and intricately braided and knotted to create next season’s look.

Fashion Week is crazy busy – Models running on a tight schedule between shows, Make Up artists have to create the perfect look in minutes while some of the models have a bite to eat or are busy with their smartphones, hair stylists are creating the most intricate braids and knots in literally no time at all. It is highly professional organized chaos.

Thanks for joining me for a peek behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week.

It has been an amazing week and so busy that I only manage to do my first post about New York today. I had the amazing opportunity to attend New York Fashion Week and to be backstage for the prep with the Sebastian Professionals. It was very inspiring and I am already looking forward to Summer 2018 – I already have a wishlist for next year.

Since it is already coming up for fall and the weather was a little cooler than in LA, I chose to wear one of my new fall looks. Velvet is definitely one of my obsessions, I decided to wear an emerald green pencil skirt out of my own collection with a navy blue silk blouse, a black leather jacket with ruffle trims and a pair of black Valentino shoes. I tied it together with light pink nail polish and my beloved pink Micheal Kors bag – I love this bag and I keep wearing it a lot – but it is getting older so I guess I am in the market for a new handbag soon…

I hope your week was as amazing as well, except for my friends in Florida who dealt with Hurricane Irma. I kept everyone in my prayers.

Thanks for stopping by, I will post much more about NYFW soon.
