Summer Travels with Lather

Brought to you by Lather – Disclosure here – opinions are strictly my own.

Happy Monday!

This is my last day here in Salzburg, Austria – I am flying back to LA tomorrow, another long flight within a relatively short time. I must say I am really surprised how well I did with my jet lag this time around, I had previous trips where I had a hard time adjusting and sleeping, this time I had no problems whatsoever.

I personally think that it has a lot to do with my Yoga exercises, I made a point out of taking better care of my mind as well as of my body, set some healthy boundaries for myself and it improved my personal wellbeing and productivity a lot.

Flying on planes and airports have been a steady companion throughout my life being a dancer – I actually do not like to fly and I am also quite afraid but I got it down to a science and it became a normal and very manageable routine for me. But I make a point of taking extra special care of myself, flying and time changes are stressful for the body and I only use products  I love to make me feel good and to protect my skin.

This is why I am so excited to show you my latest obsession. I found out about Lather a couple of month ago on a trip to Arizona when I walked into one of their stores and loved it immediately. Lather is all about wellness and natural ingredients combined with aromatherapy. all their products contain unique healing ingredients and essential oils that are good for the mind and body.

I took the “Fly Away Kit” c/o with me on this trip, it includes travel-friendly sizes of  some of my favorites.

  1. mint thyme hair wash – a light daily cleanser that makes my hair feel soft and silky. peppermint and thyme oil are awakening and stimulating – great for the morning or to help with jet-lag when traveling.
  2. yuzu bergamot crème rinse – bergamot and yuzu naturally uplift and refresh and the product helps keeping your hair soft and elastic.
  3. bamboo lemongrass body wash – leaves your skin feeling clean and fresh – I kept using it for my face as well.
  4. lavender lime moisturizer – I also used it for my face,  I loved using it on the plane to  moisturize my skin.
  5. unscented lip balm – with broad spectrum SPF 15 – this was my life saver, no cracked, dry and irritated lips – the perfect protection and nourishment.
  6. AHA hand crème with evening primrose – AHAs gently exfoliate the skin, Evening primrose, rosehip and grapeseed oils moisturize and protect the skin. One of my absolute favorites, especially on the plane!

I would love to hear from you if you have any special routines and tips for traveling, please share with me, I would love to hear!

Thank you so much to Lather for bringing you this post!

Visiting Portland…

Last week I have been in Portland, Oregon to judge a competition. I have never been there so I decided to take an early flight to be able to look around a little bit and get a feeling for the city and what life is like there. The hotel was located downtown so I just took my camera and started to walk – and here is what I came across.

The first thing I noticed was how green it was everywhere – I am in the middle of the city and the streets are really tree lined alleys, it makes the city feel very homey.

I loved the Pioneer Courthouse square, the locals call it their “Living Room”. You can see people strolling, taking a break and just enjoying to sit down on the stairs or grabbing a bite at the Food Trucks located on the top. They actually looked very yummy and good food is definitely a thing in Portland. There are lots of artesian and organic stores and products available and the area is known for their many Micro Breweries and great wines, a must visit for foodies for sure.

Passing the courthouse I noticed those cute bronze animal figures and while taking pictures a lady stopped me and asked if I knew the story about those sculptures… We spent chatting for about 15 minutes and she told me that people love to pet those little cute creatures, children give them a hug and in the wintertime some people even knitted little hats and scarves for them to keep them “warm”. What a lovely place – it speaks a lot for the local people who are very warm and friendly and connected to nature.

I kept walking to the river, Portland has a lot of bridges and green space. You see people walking, biking and jogging along the river and in between wild geese strolling around the grass unbothered by what is going on around them.

I loved my little adventure, it was mostly sunny that day and I took the opportunity to have a nice little coffee break during a short rain shower…. but this is why it is so amazingly green there.

I definitely hope to be back one day.

Florida Trip Roundup

One of my favorite places to travel to is Florida. No wonder – I lived there for a long time so it does have a special place in my heart. This trip was a great one, I packed so many things into it, new flying and travel tips, coaching lessons, me time at the Spa, Health appointments and visits with friends. I had an absolute blast.

I left with the Red Eye flight from LAX last Friday. I did not want to waste a perfectly fine day for flying so I opted for catching some sleep on a plane. Over all those years of traveling for dancing so much I got this down to a science and you can find my “Redeye Flight Survival Tips” in this previous post here.

But this time I had to go directly from the airport to the dance studio, I have been invited to coach and the schedule turned out in a way that I could not stop by to where I was staying to shower and change before heading to teach. I definitely stressed over this for a little bit – showering in the morning is an absolute must be for me and I absolutely cannot go without it.

So here is how I managed. I had a 2 hour layover in Atlanta and flew with Delta. I found out that they have showers  at terminal E and F in the Delta Sky Club lounges. I just got a day pass to get in – they had a spa area for travelers. You can check in, you get everything you need, Towels, hairdryer, toiletries and your own bathroom – absolutely spotless and spacious. I got ready for the day, had breakfast at their buffet with eggs, toast and Starbuck’s coffee and then made my way back to my terminal to fly to Florida and go to the studio. Thank you Delta, you were lifesavers in this crazy travel world.

After my coaching lessons I felt I needed some me time to restore, so I went to one of my favorite places, Eau Spa at the Eau Palm Beach Resort. It was the perfect me time and I enjoyed every minute of calm and beautiful bliss.

The rest of my time was packed with visiting friends, having some business meetings and some health checkups. I had a little scare with a mammogram a while back here in LA and I felt more comfortable to follow up at a fabulous facility in Jupiter, Florida, the Margaret W. Niedland Breast Center. This center has been founded and designed by Suzanne Niedland in memory of her mom, who died of Breast cancer, and is one of the most advanced breast diagnostic facilities in the world. And besides that the people who work there really care and make you feel comfortable, it is a great place for women. And I’m really happy to hear that I am OK and everything is fine with my health.

I had a fantastic time and can’t wait to be back next time,

thank you so much for stopping by
